Do not be discouraged. We are a community of faith, reslience and hope. Now more than ever, we must lean into the promise of God’s covenant to protect and provide as we are witnesses to a nation divided.
One question that comes to me is what are we accountable for in these trying times? The answer is in the worthy effort to reflect the liberation and freedom of Christ. That may sound lofty and broad, but it is (in my opinion) a necessity of living for Christ. And thus, we are accountable:
For how we love when fear is loud.
For how we tell the truth when misinformation is convenient.
For how we protect the vulnerable when power forgets its purpose.
For refusing despair as a posture.
For choosing courage over silence.
For practicing a faith that is not only confessed, but embodied.
For tending to one another—
For feeding the hungry, sheltering the weary, listening deeply, and refusing to let cruelty have the last word.
We are accountable for remembering that God’s covenant is not passive protection, but an active calling through the love and life of Jesus Christ. To be witnesses to justice, stewards of mercy, and bearers of hope in fractured times is worthy of our effort, prayer and commitment.
